Rosa Keller Library Test Prairie

The Keller Library Test Prairie has been established to test native prairie species in the New Orleans climate and urban setting. New Orleans falls between historic Pine Savanna spreading across the Southeastern United States and the Tallgrass Prairie spreading from the Cajun Prairie near Lafayette to Southeast Texas near Corpus Christi and north to Canada. Now that the landscape of New Orleans has been changed dramatically from cypress wetland to an urban landscape, introducing the prairie species into New Orleans is helping to support the public's appreciation for the important prairie landscape and provides pollinator habitat throughout the growing season because of the native species diversity!

Rosa F. Keller Library and Community Center is one of the many branches of the New Orleans Public Library System. We are located in the heart of the Broadmoor Community.
